Im driving the 1.5 TSI in a VW T-roc. Generaly a smooth engine with enough power 99% of the time. Pushing past 2500rpm always gives plenty amount of pulling force, not mindblowing but never had the feeling i would require more. One downside on this engine is that a cold engine affects low rpm performance more than i would like.
75 posts · Joined 2011. #1 · Dec 22, 2015. We currently have a 2004 Golf with the 2.0L engine for our kids. We are trading the Golf in for a 2014 Jetta with the 1.8L Turbo TSI engine. As far as I know the 1.8L TSI has chain driven cam shafts. What is everyone's experience with this engine. The car we are looking at has less than 20K miles on it.
