Im driving the 1.5 TSI in a VW T-roc. Generaly a smooth engine with enough power 99% of the time. Pushing past 2500rpm always gives plenty amount of pulling force, not mindblowing but never had the feeling i would require more. One downside on this engine is that a cold engine affects low rpm performance more than i would like.

As far as I know the 1.8L TSI has chain driven cam shafts. What is everyone's experience with this engine. The car we are looking at has less than 20K miles on it.
The twincharged TSI engines producing 140-170bhp are troublesome compared to a 1.4 16v Focus producing 75bhp. Should this really be a surprise? Time will tell how reliable the Ford 1.0 100ps Ecoboost engine turns out to be. Not as reliable as the old 1.6 100ps engine I would be willing to bet.
